I had my photoshoot for my magazine the week of thanksgiving with my model Griffin Koutny. I had him wear  every item ranging from hoodies, long sleeves, and the t-shirts I designed. I used a simple white background I can edit myself in case I feel it need be. I was going for a very minimalistic approach to allow focus on the clothes and other picture I plan to insert in the magazine. Props I used were, a staple gun, a shovel, a tape measure, And a small assortment of screwdrivers. I shot with an older film camera and I’m currently waiting for the photos to be developed but ill supply some images from my phone for the time being. I hope the lighting doesn’t come out too bright or dark. thankfully I had my studio light and green screen to help me really control the setting and achieve the look I was hoping for. 

       These past couple weeks we worked on storyboards. I found the process of making a storyboard slightly difficult. I was struggling with the interpretation of details because I was leaving out many things. I didn’t want to make it complicated to understand so I tried keeping it safe and not over complicating the storyboard. Instead I had found myself with a story board that did not look even half complete. In reference to the articles I found the second one “storyboarding to success” the most practical and helpful. It referred to storyboards as a super helpful problem-solving tool that enhance critical thinking in a myriad of ways. The first article did not pertain to me fully because it was mainly for filmmaking but the premise of a story board being an excellent medium of communicating an idea was still very present and gave me much assistance when I felt like I was hitting a dry spot in my storyboard. This week we spent our time in class discovering how to truly unlock our creativity and apply it properly. I really enjoyed this week especially from the variety of activities and no set one program to learn from. From TED talks, to notes, to activities, and reading this week was very eye opening and increased my confidence for the outlook of my magazine.               Ill begin by talking about the TED talk, I really enjoyed this because this man was teaching me so much about how to really awaken my closed mind but everything he said was already known subconsciously. Like the statement he made about being mad is the best mindset for creativity, I can completely relate and really understand how when I’m angry my mind is constantly fueling me with the best ideas I have had. This week was our judgement week for whether we choose to work in teams. We went through numerous activities that really highlighted to me how teamwork should be scoped out before a project. We analyzed the social media of potential partners but since I was not fully set on working with a partner, so I chose a random classmate. Then we did a lost at sea activity that was intended to give us an insight to how we worked in groups.                 When going through a random classmates social media I was paired with Sonja whose Instagram I analyzed. Sonja’s page was heavily flooded with spiritual images of awakenings of the third eye and the managing of stress on our bodies. She also showed a keen interest in anime a type of Japanese cartoon with mainly being of the action and horror genre. I am going to make a magazine. My mind has honestly been made up since the beginning of the class year. I want to make something I generally dislike (a magazine) and turn it into something people all ages could enjoy whether its good photography, or interesting articles inside. Just how the article says, “Readership is painfully low” (Franklin, 2011). I plan to make my magazine impossible to put down. I am going to base the entire tabloid on my clothing brand, Hidden Spectrum. I plan on using Photoshop because I’m familiar with the program and certified by adobe to use it.   This week we read magazines we analyzed every detail and aspect of them down to the colors, and even subtle details on the cover page. Our first magazine was Oprah’s and we noticed it being her fall edition we noted the fall/autumn themed colors in the contrasting green grass that made everything pop. We also discussed how she had made her switch from being a tv star and just show host to now being a more spiritual advisor for people struggling with issues in their day to day lives, which was always the main idea of her featured articles. Another Magazine pointed towards women and the empowerment of women was Cosmopolitan. Cosmo polytan in my opinion was just all about doing too much it seemed so overly sexy and feminine I cannot imagine someone relating to it. Which brings me to what Scherer mentioned saying that magazines have become so colorful and bombastic, "They have reduced the amount of text and increased the pictures boxes, and captions" (Sherer, 2002).
